German Edition of "Tea With Elizabeth" Announced

A German publishing company, Die Silberschnur, has released a German edition of "Tea With Elisabeth," a definitive look at the human side of the late Swiss-born international icon Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. "Zum Tee bei Elisabeth Kübler-Ross" is a collaborative portrait of the heroic and often controversial woman through the essays of 51 colleagues, bestselling authors, family members and friends. Readers will discover that behind the media image was a woman who chose to use her extraordinary gifts for good, and became a global force that brought death and dying out of the dark ages into the light of reason and compassion.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 5, 2007 -- Kenneth Ross, son of the late iconic Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, today announced that Die Silberschnur, a German publishing company, has produced a German edition of the book "Tea With Elisabeth," which is titled "Zum Tee bei Elisabeth Kübler-Ross." The world expert on death and dying, became a U.S. citizen in the late l950s, and lived here until her death in August of 2004.

"Zum Tee bei" is a collaborative portrait of Dr. Kübler-Ross by 51 prestigious colleagues, bestselling authors, family members and friends. The contributors include such luminaries as Muhammad Ali, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York; Caroline Myss; Barbara Marx Hubbard; Raymond Moody; Stephen Levine; Melina Kanakaredes; Marianne Williamson; Doreen Virtue; Barbara Brennan; Robert McCall; as well as Drs. Bernie Siegel, Gerald Jampolsky, C. Norman Shealy and Gladys T. McGarey. Also featured are Dame Cicely Saunders, Balfour Mount and Florence Wald, who along with Dr. Kübler-Ross were the founders of hospice internationally.

Ross applauded the vision and foresight of Die Silberschnur in becoming the first to publish "Tea with Elisabeth," which he believes will be the definitive book on his mother's life. He added that she will be posthumously inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in October of this year. Dr. Kübler-Ross was named one of the "Greatest Minds" of the century by TIME Magazine in 1999, and her seminal book "On Death and Dying," was elected one of the 100 most important literary works of the Twentieth Century by the New York Public Library.

Fern Stewart Welch, a veteran writer and author who conceived, directed and served as executive editor of "Tea with Elisabeth," said the 51 powerful, poignant and inspirational essays fill the void between the image of her as an international icon and the real human being.

Welch, a close friend and colleague, added that Dr. Kübler-Ross had to draw on raw courage; absolute commitment and iron resolve in the face of extreme opposition and open hostility to do what she was called to do--often alone. "She was frequently maligned, misunderstood, and criticized yet she never gave up or gave in. She always knew that it wasn't about her. It was about the message," Welch said.

"Our world needs heroes," Welch continued. "And it was the desire of the participants who knew and loved Elisabeth to inspire future generations with the story of how one soul persevered against all odds, and in the process elevated the conscious awareness of humanity."

Ross, a Scottsdale, Arizona resident, said he was in the process of establishing an organization to further his mother's life work, and that twenty-five percent of the royalties from the sale of "Zum Tee bei," will be donated to this cause. The original manuscript for "Tea With Elisabeth" was compiled by Welch, Ross and Rose Winters.

The German edition of the book "Zum Tee bei Elisabeth Kübler-Ross" is available from Amazon.de, and other online international booksellers. A Japanese edition is now in production in Tokyo, and "Tea With Elisabeth" is being shopped in the U.S. and elsewhere.
