Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 5, 2007 -- Farrell Fischoff Gallery is pleased to host BANG! @ Farrell Fischoff Gallery, a contemporary art exhibition of new works by 21 artists from Santa Fe, New Mexico. The 3 week exhibition, curated by BANG! director David Solomon, opened 27 April 2007 with an unprecedented turnout and high acclaim. For week two, the gallery has now been totally re-hung with a new set of artworks from Jason Malone, Roland Ostheim, Kim Parko and David Solomon. There are two opening receptions on Friday 4 May, 5-8 PM and Saturday 5 May, 5-8 PM.
Week one of BANG! @ Farrell Fischoff Gallery featured 21 outstanding Santa Fe artists representing artworks from multiple genre. Of particular note was Shada McKenzie's "Marassa" a suspended, hollow sculpture of a woman's torso fabricated with chicken feathers, beeswax and cotton. Rocky Lewycky took art and politics to a new level with his "Prayer for Al-Queda, A Jungian Approach", a paper and Plexiglas sandwich suspended from the ceiling. It's hand-drilled paper holes formed an American flag using the pattern of an Afghani carpet. Derusha, a student of Clifford Possum, Australian aboriginal artist, exhibited 3 major new paintings of acrylic on canvas using her unique printmaking-like painting technique.
Week two features the exquisite paintings on panel of Jason Malone; carved and painted wood panels of Roland Ostheim; the elaborate and detailed painted tile installation of Kim Parko; and the transcendentalist colorist oil paintings of David Solomon.
Week Three will showcase three of the most powerful and provocative sculptors working in Santa Fe. Ranging from lifesize to tabletop, comprised of natural and found materials, the sculptures by Sarah Hewitt, Shada McKenzie and Tanya Story will end the exhibition with an explosive BANG! Farrell Fischoff Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery in the heart of Santa Fe's Second Street Art District. The newly expanded exhibition space showcases paintings, works on paper, assemblage and sculpture from national and New Mexico artists. The gallery also offers selected modern prints by established European & American artists.
Bang! is a local, community-driven gallery, which has no permanent exhibition space. "We are willing to show unconventional--as well as traditional--artists who deserve recognition from the community to which they belong. Santa Fe needs an edge to hold on to its emerging artists," says founder and curator David Solomon. The gallery, conceived in 2005, was originally located at 717 Canyon Road, where, from January through September of that year, a new show opened almost every Friday, to rave reviews. After this run, Bang! left Canyon Road but continued to curate at other locations since then.
