EnlightenNext Wins Second Consecutive Webby People's Voice Award for WIE.org

WIE.ORG, the multimedia website for What Is Enlightenment? magazine, is honored again with the prestigious Webby People's Voice Award in the Religion and Spirituality category for their content-rich resource site

Lenox, MA (PRWEB) May 8, 2007 -- EnlightenNext, the nonprofit educational organization "dedicated to a revolution in consciousness and culture" has won the prestigious Webby People's Voice Award for its multimedia website, WIE.org. This is the second consecutive year WIE.org has been honored as the "best of the Internet" in the Religion and Spirituality website category.

More than 400,000 votes were cast in the Webby Award balloting process and WIE.org came out on top of fellow nominees Beliefnet, NPR's This I Believe, JCTV.org, and PBS's Religion & Ethics Newsweekly. WIE.org is the online website for the award-winning magazine What Is Enlightenment? produced by EnlightenNext. This content-rich resource web site offers audios, videos, and printable articles of interviews and investigations by the editors of What Is Enlightenment? magazine in the fields of science, spirituality, business, politics, ethics, the arts, and culture.

"At EnlightenNext and WIE.org we're trying to create a community of individuals willing to grapple with life's biggest questions in order to find new solutions to the global crises we find ourselves in," says Andrew Cohen, founder of EnlightenNext. "It's a challenging endeavor, but receiving the People's Voice Award two years in a row affirms and supports the work we're doing, which in turn helps ensure our collective prospects for a better future."

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards are the leading international awards honoring excellence on the Web. This year, the People's Voice Award received a record number of entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states.

"The Webby Awards honor the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "WIE.org's selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators."

Founded in 1996, The Webby Awards are known worldwide for their famous five-words-or-less acceptance speeches. Last year, Andrew Cohen accepted the award for WIE.org with these five words: Webby voters are obviously enlightened!

EnlightenNext and other winners will be honored at an awards gala hosted by Rob Corddry, formerly of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, on June 5, in New York City.
