New Book Explores the Dynamics of a Dysfunctional Family

Author Glenn W. Russell sheds some light on the darker side of family in Me 'n Mckee 'n Mama.

Aylett, Virginia (PRWEB) May 6, 2007 -- Me 'n Mckee 'n Mama by Glenn W. Russell demonstrates that with enough love even the worst of families can find a way to survive and flourish.

Me 'n Mckee 'n Mama is the story of seven siblings being raised by alcoholic parents. Narrated by 11-year old Willie, the book takes readers on a ride of emotions. As the oldest child, Willie experiences betrayal, pain, and confusion as he struggles to be the dependable man of the house and assume the responsibilities of his parents. Contrasting the disheartening side of family life are the hysterical antics of Willie's scrappy, younger brother, Mckee, who is consistently causing Willie more angst.

In Me 'n Mckee 'n Mama, older children will discover a sad yet funny story of two little boys and their mother, along with a certain self-affirmation for many who might find themselves in a situation similar to that of the main characters. Adult readers will appreciate the circumstances that Willie is unable to understand while also viewing the situation through the eyes of a child.

Russell's book shows how parents can harm their children by taking advantage of them, violating their trust with broken promises, and administering punishment without full knowledge of the facts or cost to the child. Illustrating a poignant effect, Me 'n Mckee 'n Mama allows readers to see that poor parents can still be filled with love and good intentions for their children and that a family with profound problems is not necessarily unsalvageable.
