(PRWEB) May 8, 2007 -- Los Angeles' own Eggshell Egoz release their new album 'Funky Poetz' on May 15, 2007. Produced by Ronan Chris Murphy (King Crimson, Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Pink Floyd), and various projects featuring members of Tool, Ministry, Weezer, Dishwalla, and Yes), the album is a blend of funk, rock and pop. The first single will be the acclaimed 'Takin My Time' which has already received radio spins around the country.
Formed in 2001, Eggshell Egoz is the brainchild of vocalist Dave Whitton and guitarist Dave Walker. After the band's early experiments with cellos, saxophones, trumpets, and congas, they found bassist Dale Vix, drummer Jay Setar, and metal-based rhythm guitarist Rodney Amieva.
The album's unique sound "is a top down joy ride," according to the band's singer Dave Whitton, "that will glue to your tongue and take the stress of the day away." Working with producer Ronan Chris Murphy, Eggshell Egoz was able to get precisely the sound they were seeking for the album's overall feel. "Working with Ronan was great. We took over a year to perfect the sound and get exactly what we wanted. We've come out with an album that's truly a flavorful experience," says Whitton.
With strong but vulnerable vocals, Eggshell has defined their all-original sound that critics have called "down home grooves that get you bobbin' and smiling while enveloping you with a feel good blanket" (Catsask Music and Entertainment), "a flavored addiction" (Shawn Plunkett, Flare Magazine), and "LA's best new band 2006!" (J. James, Speak EZ Radio).
Billed with acts such as Liz Phair, The Spin Doctors, and Quincy Jones, the Egoz anthology of music consists of over 40 original songs and can be heard on many college radio stations, online and in the soon to be released animated film Trampoline.
Eggshell Egoz can be found on myspace.com/eggshellegoz and on any other digital distribution network including cdbaby, itunes and youtube.
