Applied Informatics Announces Immediate Availability of the POCO Open Service Platform (POCO OSP)

Applied Informatics Software Engineering GmbH (http://www.appinf.com/), the experts in software development tools for cross-platform and smart device software development, is pleased to announce the availability of the POCO Open Service Platform.

(PRWEB) May 9, 2007 -- The POCO Open Service Platform (OSP) is a C++ based middleware providing a service-oriented and component-based environment for developing, deploying, running and managing modular network-based applications. OSP makes it possible to build applications that can be managed, extended and upgraded in the field and is ideally suited for embedded systems like device servers, data acquisition systems, network/protocol gateways or networked multimedia devices. OSP comes with pre-built services for web access (HTTP(S)), SOAP/WSDL web services and distributed objects, authentication/authorization, administration and SQL database access, and is available in binary or source code form for many platforms, including Windows, Unix, Linux, Mac OS X and QNX.

"With the POCO Open Service Platform we can offer a comprehensive, integrated platform for the development of network-enabled smart device applications in C++. Finally, with OSP, an equivalent to the Java OSGi Service Platform is available to C++ developers. Our experience shows that there is a huge demand for such a platform in the market, especially since many device software projects these days are using C++." says Günter Obiltschnig, Managing Director of Applied Informatics and responsible for the development of OSP.

The POCO Open Service Platform is based on the POCO C++ Libraries, a collection of open source C++ class libraries that simplify and accelerate the development of network-centric, portable applications in C++. Their modular and efficient design and implementation makes the POCO C++ Libraries extremely well suited as a device software development platform.
