New Miles Davis project entitled Evolution of the Groove set for release this summer.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 10, 2007 -- A new Miles Davis re-mix project entitled Evolution of the Groove, featuring performances by Santana, Nas and Olu Dara (father of Nas), is set for release this summer (date tba). Davis nephew, Vince Wilburn, Jr., is co-executive producer of the 5-song EP, along with Steve Berkowitz, head of A&R at Sony/Legacy. Wilburn, Jr. also co-produced the project, which adds a contemporary twist to Davis's established classic sound, along with Charley Drayton and Pat Thrall.

The late jazz icon, who would have celebrated his 81st birthday on May 26, continues to receive accolades nearly 16 years after his passing. Davis marked the first jazz artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year and was also posthumously inducted into the Hollywood's RockWalk. He remains a major innovator and originator whose significant impact has yet to be duplicated. A major biopic is also forthcoming with critically acclaimed actor Don Cheadle set to portray Miles.
