Slammer's Website Channels Michael Jordan to Heat Up the Racquetball Apparel Marketplace
Online store markets clothing and gift items imprinted with a logo similar to the Jumpman 23 image. Instead of Love and Basketball, It's Love and Racquetball.
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) May 13, 2007 -- Slammer's Racquetball Apparel and Gift Shop announced today the release of an interesting new garment design. The online store's line of "Slam" racquetball merchandise features a Michael Jordan like image that some might consider risky to publish.
"Slam was inspired by Michael Jordan's Jumpman 23 image," admits Nate Holloway, owner of Slammer's. "The brilliant simplicity of that design inspired me to create a similarly conceptualized racquetball logo. Racquetball players are a unique bunch of people who don't do a lot of trash talking on the court. They let their games speak for them, so I believed it appropriate that their exercise wear should reflect that mindset."
Slam is one of several design concepts featured on the website. The logo is a silhouetted image of a male racquetball player preparing to "crush" a volley. With extended arms and legs, it is very reminiscent of Michael Jordan's easy to recognize worldwide brand.
"I hope Mr. Jordan is flattered and not offended," adds Holloway. Is he worried about a copyright infringement lawsuit? "No, I think the image is unique enough to stand on it's own." Presently, Slam is available on men's clothing with a women's design on the way.
Slammer's Racquetball Apparel and Gift Shop is a sparsely decorated but easy to navigate website trimmed in racquetball blue and green. The homepage contains links to a men's apparel section, a women's apparel section, a small children's apparel section, and a racquetball novelty gift items section. T-shirts, clocks, bumper stickers, mugs, and even thongs are available on the site.
March 2007 marked Slammer's first full year in business. The store exclusively carries racquetball related clothing and gift items. For more information visit www.cafepress.com/slammersapparel.
