Minnetonka, MN (PRWEB) May 15, 2007 -- The National Gas Rodeo announced today that the 2007 competition will be conducted on September 22, 2007 in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Teams are invited from across the nation to showcase their skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
The National Gas Rodeo is the proving ground for the elite gas crews from across the United States. The intense competition and camaraderie of the Rodeo offer competitors an opportunity to showcase their skills and professionalism. The National Gas Rodeo is proudly administered by Midwest Energy Association and supported by American Gas Association and American Public Gas Association.
"The team is like a well-oiled machine whose every move is choreographed, they are so good at what they do … and these are skills they use on the job every day," said John W. Somerhalder, president and chief executive officer at AGL Resources, who supports AGL's team in the competition.
The event is expected to draw teams from Sempra Energy, Atlanta Gas Light, Duke Energy, We Energies, Xcel Energy, and a dozen or so other utilities that see real value in letting their crews put themselves to the test.
"With team names like Elmer and the Fudds, Large Order of Small Fries, and Bond…Fusion Bond, it is clear the teams really enjoy participating. The Rodeo is really a great way for our crews to get fired up about their jobs. They take this very seriously. They train for it and give it their all. It's fun, sure, but they really want to win. We, as a company, feel like we get a lot of value out of competing," says Larry Buie from Atlanta Gas Light.
