It is a privilege and honor to be in the same company of people who have received this award in the past
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) May 16, 2007
Global Advertising 1st (GA1) is pleased to announce that Derrick J. Hollie, President/CEO, received the esteemed 2007 Award of Honor from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) on Saturday, May 4, 2007. Each year at the East Tennessee State University Alumni Association Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting, ETSU honors exceptional alumni for their exemplary achievements, both professionally and personally.
Held at the D.P. Culp University Center ballroom on the ETSU campus, Hollie was among thirteen noteworthy individuals who were honored at the ceremony and only the fifth African-American in the history of the university to receive the Award of Honor. The ETSU Alumni Association Honors, Awards and Nominations committee bestows this award on a very select group of people to show their appreciation for the alumni's commitment to ETSU and for their personal achievements.
"It is a privilege and honor to be in the same company of people who have received this award in the past," said Hollie. "I am proud to represent ETSU and I hope to be an inspiration and positive example for this year's graduates. I credit ETSU with providing me with a solid foundation in broadcasting, which helped me excel in the radio industry and helped me to launch Global Advertising 1st." Hollie founded Global Advertising 1st in 2000 and in just seven years he has positioned GA1 as a leading full-service, minority-owned advertising and marketing solutions firm. In recognition for his trailblazing in the business world, he was also selected in 2006 as one of the "Fifty Most Influential Minorities in Business," by the Minority Business & Professionals Network, Inc. (MBPN). Hollie was chosen from a pool of over 1,200 high-profile nominees from around the nation for being "one of America's most respected marketers and ad executives."
