Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2007 -- GridGain Systems announced today availability of the first public release of GridGain project, an enterprise open source grid computing platform for Java. This release culminates 18 months of development and presents a software product with unique set of grid computing features, open source LGPL licensing and clear focus on high-performance Java-based development.

"Almost two years ago we set out to develop a technology that would change the enterprise Java grid computing landscape in much the same way Spring and JBoss have changed the J2EE market through simplification and focusing on a developer. Today we are releasing our project that is based on proven professional open source model, business and community friendly LGPL licensing, and the host of unique grid computing features", said Nikita Ivanov, founder of GridGain project.

Grid computing technology is in the midst of transition from one-off niche solutions to widely used paradigm in business applications. While large businesses have enough resources to endure long term projects using existing grid computing products and technologies, small and mid-sized companies are often left out with a choice of either developing complex solutions in house or not being able to compete.

Nikita Ivanov went on to say: "We are seeing the biggest untapped market in mid-sized businesses in areas like financials, insurance, banking, web 2.0 and bioinformatics, They clearly see the need to compete with the big names but just don't have nearly the same IT budgets. GridGain levels the playing field and enables businesses of all sizes innovate with the grid computing technology to improve existing and provide new lines of services."

About GridGain Systems
GridGain Systems started in Pleasanton, CA in 2005 by the group of people that realized that traditional grid computing solutions are still largely inadequate for the majority of businesses due to their complexity, high cost, and lack of simple integration with and applicability for mainstream enterprise technologies like JEE. We envisioned the Open Source Java Grid Computing software that will combine intuitive integration and seamless application of the technology with state of the art grid computing features providing JEE grid enabling solution that is easy to acquire and easy to implement.
