The powerful architecture of the RAIDking™ 840RFC delivers massive amounts of Fibre RAID storage and ultra-fast performance. Sixteen independent 500GB or 750 GB SATA II hard drives provide up to 12 TB of storage capacity, while the powerful AMCC PPC440SP based RAID controller with its 512MB cache (upgradeable to 2 GB) offers sustained data transfer rates in excess of 700MB/sec. This throughput is high enough to support several streams of uncompressed HD video for editing, while providing superior data security by utilizing the newest and most efficient RAID levels (6 and 60).
Due to its O/S independence, the RAIDking™ 840RFC connects easily to a Fibre switch, as well as directly to any server outfitted with a single or dual-channel 4Gbit/sec. Fibre host bus adapter. It comes standard with optical Fibre transceivers and host cables, ready to be the backbone of a Fibre channel SAN , and can be configured in minutes using the built-in CGI based GUI that also offers event notification via email, SNMP and audible alarms.
