The WebPort application is able to use existing database connections to support real-time online transactions, since CircPort already integrates with the Daily News' Discus circulation database, giving customers another way to start new subscriptions and manage their existing accounts online.

WebPort provides all of the CircPort circulation services, used by the Daily News' website. Services include reporting a delivery problem, placing a vacation hold, making a payment or checking account status, and starting a new subscription. Although some newspapers state that they take subscriptions online, many simply collect subscriber data for input by an agent during normal business hours.
