About the Book

"Him", Daniel Barron's third publication to date, creates a kind of trinity with his previous two works, "There's No Such Thing As A Negative Emotion" and "Enheartenment". The novel is the story of a disillusioned psychologist who is escaping some relationship trouble by vacationing in Mexico and fortuitously finds Jesus (who we learn goes by 'Hesh') drinking Coronas and eating quesadillas and beans. The next three days would change the psychologist's life forever as he deeply probes the mind and heart of Him and allows himself to be taken on a journey of the heart and soul. Hesh leaves no psychotherapeutic or spiritual stone unturned, exposing the limitations of religion and the very idea of faith, eastern dharma and modern Buddhistic adaptations, therapy of all kinds, all current bases of morality, atheistic empiricism, and any other approach toward healing or spiritual attainment. Hesh asserts an entirely new approach and criteria for deep emotional healing and its relationship to spirituality that flies in the face of 3,000 years of teaching.

All of this unravels inside a remarkably witty and deeply heart-felt dialogue over three days between the two characters as they learn more about themselves, their shadows, and each other. Long-time spiritual and psychological seekers will find many questions answered in this book and may find themselves inquiring into an entirely different set. In the end, readers will encounter a surprising and thought provoking ending and will be able to judge for themselves whether the author's admonition on page one holds weight: "Warning: Deeply ingesting the contents of this book may be threatening or harmful to your philosophical, religious, or spiritual digestive systems!"

Deftly constructed at 264 pages, Him is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Body, Mind & Spirit/ Healing category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Him can meet consumer demand through both retail and library markets.
