Beginning this fall, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) will deliver its expertise in sonography education to students around the world by offering its Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography completely online. Classes begin with the fall 2007 trimester.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- Beginning this fall, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (FHCHS) will deliver its expertise in sonography education to students around the world by offering its Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography completely online. Classes begin with the fall 2007 trimester.

"Much like the other online degrees in nursing and radiologic sciences offered by the College, sonography represents a growing field with an increasing demand for highly-educated professionals," said Dr. Don Williams, senior vice president for academic administration. "The online delivery of the degree increases the access of students from around the world to Florida Hospital College's expert faculty and staff. The students benefit by increasing their knowledge base in sonography and raising the level of their professionalism."

Much like the other online degrees in nursing and radiologic sciences offered by the College, sonography represents a growing field with an increasing demand for highly-educated professionals
Qualified individuals who wish to enroll in the online Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program must possess either an associate degree or certificate in diagnostic medical sonography and have a current credential in sonography. Students will be able to complete the requirements to earn their Bachelor's degree in as little as 24 months.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of diagnostic medical sonographers is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2014. As the population grows and ages, there will be an increased demand for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic technology. Sonographic technology is expected to evolve rapidly and to spawn many new sonography procedures, such as 3-D- and 4-D-sonography for use in obstetric and cardiac diagnosis.

This excellent growth potential for diagnostic medical sonography professionals who have earned a Bachelor's degree will provide abundant opportunity in the future for salary increases and professional recognition.

Students interested in more information about the BS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography distance education program, can contact a Florida Hospital College Enrollment Advisor at 877-471-1454 or visit the program Web site, www.onlinesonography.fhchs.edu.
