Third Wave Systems Announces Parallel Capability for AdvantEdge FEM v5.0
Third Wave Systems' flagship software program, AdvantEdge™ FEM, will now be available with a parallel computing upgrade. The materials-based, modeling software is used to reduce the product lifecycle costs of machined components. The new parallel computing capability will allow simulations to be completed one and a half to three times faster than before.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 19, 2007 -- As part of its goal to continue helping customers save time and solve larger problems, Third Wave Systems will offer a parallel computing capability in the next version of the company's flagship software, AdvantEdge™ FEM. The new version, FEM v5.0, was unveiled at the 2007 Third Wave AdvantEdge™ International Users' Conference today in Seattle and will hit the market in June.
Third Wave AdvantEdge™ FEM is materials-based, modeling software that accurately predicts forces, tool temperature and wear, stresses, and strains for dramatically reducing the product lifecycle costs of machined components. The software is designed to give engineers the ability to improve material removal rates, part quality, and tool performance while decreasing the need for trial and error testing.
The addition of parallel computing will make AdvantEdge™ FEM more valuable than ever, by reducing computation time - especially for complex simulations.
Beta testing has produced great results. Typical results running on a 3.0 GHz Dual Processor Dual Core computer are 1.5 to 3 times faster than a comparable workstation with a single processor. The parallel capability will be offered to customers as an optional upgrade for both 2D and 3D products.
"This is a necessary step to keeping AdvantEdge™ at the high end of computing," said Kerry Marusich, president of Third Wave Systems. "The software that helps engineers be more efficient has now gotten more efficient itself."
