Bethlehem, Pa. (PRWEB) May 20, 2007 -- Spark (www.sparkcreatives.com) and the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (www.unitedwayglv.org) received a Silver ADDY for the public service poster campaign entitled "Give" at the District 2 Regional Competition. The campaigned designed to rally funding for the United Way's causes used a series of posters that had two check boxes on with choices like "Give." or "Keep a family homeless." and "Give." or "Let a child attend school hungry." set amongst a distressed background.
"We at United Way are thrilled and honored that our poster campaign won a silver award at the district competition," said Fred Zahradnik, vice president of marketing and communications of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley. "The set of three posters are compelling because they are creatively linked, and they carry powerful but succinct messages that challenge and provoke thought. A special thank you goes to the team at our agency, Spark, for their creative energy, courage, and ability to rise above the clichés of advertising for nonprofits."
The ADDY Awards is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence. The ADDY Awards Competition is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Entries are first judged at a local level through competitions by more than 200 ad clubs affiliated with AAF.
More than 170 entries were submitted for this year's Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club's ADDY Awards ceremony in March. In January, each entry was judged by experts in the field of creativity brought in from outside the Lehigh Valley. The campaign won a gold at the Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club ADDY Awards and then advanced to District 2 competition.
District 2, is highly competitive, including submissions from agencies and companies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington D.C. The United Way entry has been submitted to the National ADDY Awards competition, whose awards ceremony takes place on June 9, at the annual AAF Conference in Louisville, Ky.
