The Kelly Bowlin Band from Corona to Perform With American Idol Bucky Covington

The Kelly Bowlin Band with it's gritty Roots Rock Americana Style will perform with Country star and American Idol Bucky Covington at The Belly-Up Tavern in Solano Beach, May 29th. The Band was the winner of the 2006 Southern California and Inland Empire Music Awards and combines hard driving Alt Country with in your face Rock N Roll.

Corona, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- The Corona based Kelly Bowlin Band will be performing with country star and American Idol finalist Bucky Covington, May 29th at the Belly-Up Tavern in Solano Beach. In a show that might be described as Country Pop meets Country Ugly, the Kelly Bowlin Band will bring a raw and gritty Americana Roots Rock Style that will contrast sharply with the Nashville mainstream appeal of Bucky Covington. The band maintains a large regional following in Southern California and has been together for four years. They have released two highly acclaimed studio albums and one live album and will performing songs off of their soon to be released CD entitled The Fortune Teller.

The Band was voted Best Classic Rock Band at both the 2006 Southern California Music Awards and The Inland Empire Music Awards but lead singer Kelly Bowlin was quick to distance the band from being labeled Classic Rock, "I think the reason we were nominated at both shows for Classic Rock is that they didn't have a category for Roots Rock or Americana, or maybe it's just the fact that we're all over 40 which automatically makes us Classic Rock," he said. Whatever label is used to describe the band, they've been the recipient of strong reviews from critics throughout Southern California including OC Register columnist Robert Kinsler who described them as "One of his favorite acts making music in Southern California today," and John Roos writing for OC Weekly who labeled the music "A richly textured mix of folk, rock, country, and bluegrass."

The band made it's debut opening for The Blasters at The Galaxy Theater in 2002 and has since performed throughout the West Coast with artists such as Dave Mason, Junior Brown, Buddy Guy, Kansas, The Flatlanders, The Spin Doctors and also did a summer tour with Dwight Yoakam in 2003.

Bucky Covington adds a new twist to the notion that winning is everything. The eighth-place finalist on the fifth season of the runaway hit TV show American Idol, Covington has now parlayed that into a burgeoning country music singing career. His debut album "Bucky Covington" reached number 1 on the Billboard Country charts and has been in the top ten for four straight weeks and is also the fastest selling debut since Billy Ray Cyrus.

The Belly-Up Tavern is located at 143 S. Cedros Ave, Solano Beach Ca. For more information contact the Box Office at 858-481-8140.
