LA.com Launches New Site on Clickability's Web Content Management Platform

LA.com, the online entertainment destination for Los Angeles, launched the next generation of its community site on Clickability's hosted web content management platform. The new platform helps LA entertainment site syndicate news from 10 publications and provides a foundation for an entertainment community enhancement to the site.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2007 -- LA.com, the online entertainment destination for Los Angeles, launched the next generation of its community site on Clickability's hosted web content management platform, Clickability announced today.

Since its launch in 2003, LA.com has established itself as the top destination for finding hot spots and uncovering the best-kept secrets in Los Angeles. The website, which targets 18 to 35 year olds, features blogs, articles, and entertainment reviews submitted by LA.com's editorial team of Los Angeles insiders. It has won industry recognition including a Forbes Best of the Web and frequent coverage in the The New York Times.

The move to Clickability enables LA.com to broaden and deepen its appeal through syndicated content and social media, managed through a single, consistent system.

For instance, the site plans to use Clickability's "content loader" feature to complement its existing coverage with syndicated content feeds supplied by LA.com-publisher MediaNews Group and its 10 Los Angeles newspapers. The content loader is an interface to Clickability's content platform; it enables LA.com to aggregate entertainment feeds from the print based-newspapers and publish them online. The result will be a site with more entertainment content, covering greater Los Angeles clubs, restaurants, events, movies and other entertainment news.

"The goal is to be the entertainment content king in Los Angeles," said LA.com's Director of Operations Jason Odom.

LA.com will also also roll out new social media capabilities available with Clickability. Adding to to existing feature such as blogs and comments, the site plans to add user-submitted video, audio, photos, calendar events and to enable people to manage their own profiles from the site. The result will be the first Web 2.0 entertainment destination for Los Angeles.

Choosing Clickability for its hosted web content management system made business sense for LA.com.
