KUA to Host Hurricane Preparedness Meetings

To assist residents in preparing for the upcoming hurricane season, Kissimmee Utility Authority will host a series of neighborhood meetings to discuss preparation, response and restoration plans and procedures.

Kissimmee, Fla. (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- To assist residents in preparing for the upcoming hurricane season, Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) will host a series of neighborhood meetings to discuss preparation, response and restoration plans and procedures.

The 60-minute sessions will be packed with helpful tips and information, including details on power restoration, generator safety, tree trimming and debris collection, and county and city planning for emergency response. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

The meetings will feature representatives from KUA, Osceola County, City of Kissimmee, Toho Water Authority and the University of Florida's IFAS Osceola County Extension.

Those who attend will receive a printed copy of the utility's 2007 Osceola Hurricane Handbook. The 40-page guide includes practical tips to prepare for hurricanes and floods, plus helpful Osceola County telephone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and a hurricane tracking chart.

All residents are encouraged to attend, especially those who are new to the area or inexperienced in dealing with hurricanes.

Refreshments will be served and those who attend can register for a door prize.

The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30.
