Dark Behaviors in The Business World Exposed

In his new book Tales From The Business Dark Side, Jon Sabel explores in 7 stories, based on his business experiences, the struggles of the American middle class to understand the meanings of their lives amidst massive layoffs, accelerating globalism, social upheaval, and corporate battles for control.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 24, 2007 -- Being a member of the tail end of the baby boom generation, Mr. Sabel was one of many Americans that made the transition from what he calls "the end of the American industrial age" into the high-tech/ global age.

Mr. Sabel wrote Tales From The Business Dark Side to explore how the middle class of his generation--particularly those who experienced a decline in standard of living--are trying to make sense of their lives amidst rapid societal transformation.

"I remember as I was being taught how to use a slide rule in school, in 1972, my father brought home an electronic calculator. Later, during my teenage years while living in Pittsburgh, PA, I witnessed the decline of the U.S. steel industry, the first oil price shock and the rise of compact Japanese cars. By the time I graduated college, in 1984, the personal computer had arrived. That was just the beginning of a society transforming trend that continues today," comments Mr. Sabel.

"However, in this transition, through my own experiences as well as those of friends and former colleagues, many feel that the American workplace has increasingly become very dark and psychotic, as the pressures for greater performance in shorter time periods have become immense."

About the author:
Mr. Sabel has 20 years experience in the business world, beginning as a steel salesman in the 1980s and then making a transition into high-tech industries. Today, he is an independent sales representative. Along the way, he took a break and studied with a metaphysical teacher to gain a broader perspective of developing global trends, deeper self-understanding and balance in his own life.

About Tales Fom The Business Dark Side (ISBN# 978-1-4303-0233-9):
The 7 stories in this book are fictional works, based on Mr. Sabel's own business experiences, written from the perspective of middle class workers, trying not only to survive but also understand the meaning of their own existences, in environments driven and dominated by darker human behaviors, emotions and motivations.
