Ted Collins joins Winston-Salem-based firm as president and chief operating officer.

Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) May 24, 2007 -- InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading supplier of public safety technology systems used by local, state, national and international government agencies, today announced that Ted Collins will join the executive management team as president and chief operating officer. Mr. Collins will be responsible for executing the strategic vision and leading the day-to-day operations of the company. Mr. Collins brings a strong background in building successful software companies.

Mr. Collins, 43, joins InterAct from MissionMode Solutions, Inc., a crisis management and urgent communication system used globally by private companies and public safety agencies to execute and coordinate business continuity and emergency response plans. As president and chief executive officer of MissionMode, he led development, operations, marketing, finance, and sales. He has spent more than 20 years as an entrepreneur in the software industry, having founded and grown five profitable start-up companies. His most previous success to MissionMode was OpinionWare, a company he co-founded in 1999 that created software to help businesses build loyalty by gathering and analyzing customer opinion, and engaging customers and employees in meaningful dialogues. Collins served as president and chief executive officer of OpinionWare until divine acquired the company in April 2001.

Before founding OpinionWare, Collins was senior vice president of the Internet Advance Group within PLATINUM technology, inc., a $1 billion information technology management software and services company acquired by Computer Associates in 1999. At PLATINUM, Collins oversaw the development, acquisition and launch of the company's Internet-related products and services.
Earlier, while at computer hardware and software companies Mentus Group, Inc. and ViaTech Development, Inc., Collins led the development of products from concept through production and installation in less than 120 and 180 days respectively.

Collins has published many articles on the topics of software management, application lifecycle vitality and linking self-managing content to customer retention, and many case studies on collaboration. He has appeared in publications such as Red Herring, ZDNet, ComputerWorld, Software and CIO.

He is a frequent speaker at industry events including Communities East, Continuity Insights, CPM, Instant Messaging Planet and Global Knowledge Management eXchange. Past speaking engagements include ComDex, CIO Forum, Internet World and IT Expo.

Collins holds bachelor's degrees in computer science, mathematics and English from St. John's University in Minnesota. He completed much of his English studies at Trinity and New College at Oxford University in England. He also earned a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
