Martha Stewart: Will She Make Scents Tomorrow?

Essential Oil and Aromatherapy Expert Holistic Nurse Marilee Tolen (aka "Home Spa Lady") offers "7 Ways to Use Essential Oils in Every Day Life" by using healing scents from a bottle.

Cherry Hill, New Jersey (PRWEB) May 25, 2007 -- Essential Oil and Aromatherapy Expert Holistic Nurse Marilee Tolen (aka "Home Spa Lady") offers "7 Ways to Use Essential Oils in Every Day Life" by using healing scents from a bottle

"Be sure to watch the Martha Stewart show tomorrow to listen to Dr. Hill talk about the basics of essential oils - it will be good foundational information for these tips - it's helpful to have an understanding on how the essential oils work. My good friend, Dr. Hill, will be on the program with Donna Karan as she presents her Urban Zen Initiative".

Essential oils have been used as a healing modality since the beginning of time and have been considered man's first medicine. The re-emergence of therapeutic use of essential oils is gaining popularity, especially for every day ailments such as headaches, stress, sinus problems, and digestive inconveniences.

Tolen - one of the country's first board certified holistic nurses and a former board member of the American Holistic Nurses Association - says "this isn't just about perfumy aromatherapy - its important to make the distinction between therapeutic grade oils and perfume grade oils. For example, I get a headache from all of the 'aromatherapy' products when I walk into a Bed, Bath, and Beyond store, and I can't tolerate the smell of a scented candle burning - many of these have artificial ingredients with chemical fixatives, and I am chemically sensitive - but using therapeutic grade oils is a whole different ballgame."

Here are her 7 Ways:

1. Sprinkle on your pillowcase for a good night's sleep (lavender, chamomile, marjoram).
2. Wear on your pulse points to minimize the effects of stress (Peace & Calming*, Roman chamomile).
3. Dab on your temples for mental clarity (basil, peppermint).
4. Inhale from cupped palms for opening breathing passages (eucalyptus, peppermint, ravensara).
5. Rub on the bottom of feet for feeling grounded throughout the day (sage, Valor*).
6. Rub clockwise on your belly for balancing digestion (fennel, rosemary, peppermint).
7. Bathe in a tub with added essential oils for relaxation ( ylang ylang, rose, lavender, Joy*).
