Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) May 25, 2007 -- Neks Technologies Inc, a company specializing in developing and manufacturing innovative dental products, today announced that hygienist Shirley Gutkowski is presenting a Web seminar entitled: DetecTar: The Quest for Excellence demonstrating how clinicians are detecting sub-gingival calculus more effectively using the neks DetecTar™ mini. Shirley Gutkowski, RDH, BSDH is an award-winning magazine columnist and international speaker with over 20 years of experience as a dental hygienist. Based on LED and fiber optic technologies, the DetecTar mini is the first and only intelligent handheld sub-gingival calculus detection device available on the market. The Web seminar is available immediately for viewing on the Neks Web site at http://www.neks.ca/web_seminars_en.htm?pr3.

"Neks Technologies supports excellence in clinical practice by developing instruments clinicians can rely on for detecting sub-gingival calculus and enamel lesions," said Shirley Gutkowsi. The DetecTar mini is a minimally-invasive electronic diagnostic aid that helps hygienists detect up to 3 times more calculus in comparison with traditional methods, according to a clinical study conducted by McGill University.1

The DetecTar mini is an easy-to-use electronic device that can help decrease the amount of time spent probing blindly in deep pockets, reduce the possibility of over-scaling, and increase efficiency enabling quicker and more accurate diagnoses. In addition, it is an extremely effective communication tool enabling patients to better understand and accept their treatment plans. The DetecTar mini provides additional support to clinicians who need to encourage patients to shorten the time between follow-up appointments.
