Hula Hoop Guru to Break World Record and Fundraise in the Boudler 10K
On Memorial Day, May 28th, Betty Hoops will attempt to break her World Record of hula-hoop running a 10K while fundraising for Cerebral Palsy of Westchester NY.
(PRWEB) May 24, 2007 -- In 2005 on a dare, she set the World Record for hula hooping while running the entire Bolder Boulder 10K in Boulder, CO. She knew that the only way to accomplish this feat was to organize a team of blockers protecting the crowds of runners & walkers from hitting into her hoop. Team Hoop finished in 1:43 minutes. In 2006 they broke their time by 18 minutes & out ran the camerawoman who was supposed to be getting documentation for the Guinness Book. She fell on her face in the first mile & could never catch up to the team. They also raised money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
"I'm just a Jewish girl from New York who got kicked out of a step aerobics class when I was 25." Hoops exclaims. Rhythmically challenged, she was determined to find an easy & inspiring way to stay healthy. She left her job as a sous chef at Pinons, one of the best restaurants in Aspen, to hand mold adult hoops & teach classes. Consumer demand kept growing, so she devoted all her time to building a worldwide hoop business.
Betty Hoops hopes to inspire & educate busy people all over the world, that feeling radiant in ones mind & body can happen in just a few minutes with one of Americas favorite past times. "People try to convince me that they are not teachable. I put them into the right sized hoop & teach them in less than 5 minutes & they always shout 'You were right, I can do it.' Betty has been on the Caroline Rhea Show, Fox 5 News NY, LA Morning Show & ESPN. Publications write about her ability to heal others through hoop such as; Aspen Peak Magazine, Santa Barbara Press, Vision Magazine and Vegetarian Times. One of her students was even on The Late Show with David Letterman. He hoop/walked with an original Betty Hoop.
