Army Ranger Turned Hollywood Nanny Finds Mystery and Romance in Africa

J.D. Tynan's humorous mystery novel, "Charlie Ford Meets Secret Agent Man," features the wild exploits and romantic liaisons of one extremely unlucky nanny.

Vancouver, WA (PRWEB) May 28, 2007 -- With mysterious bad guys, pretentious preteens and near-disaster around every corner, J.D. Tynan's latest novel, "Charlie Ford Meets Secret Agent Man" (ISBN 0977197158, A Better Be Write Publisher, 2007) is akin to a sexier, grown-up print version of "Adventures in Babysitting." The book is the first in Tynan's new trilogy starring a tough woman named Charlie Ford, a former Army Ranger and current Hollywood nanny.

Charlie is nanny to Annabelle, the snobby 12-year-old daughter of an A-list Hollywood action star. Annabelle's father is filming a movie in Africa, so Charlie and Annabelle set out to join him for the summer, but on the way over, their plane is hijacked. With the help of an enigmatic stranger, Charlie and Annabelle are able to escape into the isolated African jungle of Serengeti, where Charlie must use her military skills and survival tactics to keep Annabelle and herself alive. Though she's unsure if the shadowy stranger can be trusted, Charlie finds herself growing surprisingly attracted to him.

Despite all sexual tension mounting in the jungle, "Charlie Ford Meets Secret Agent Man" has a deeper plot that goes beyond romance into a personal journey of self-discovery. Charlie and Annabelle begin to bond when Charlie looks past some of Annabelle's protective facades and discovers that they both have similar emotional needs. Charlie's softer, nurturing side is brought out by Annabelle's feelings of fatherly neglect, and as she provides emotional support to the younger girl, Charlie is forced to face her own emotional baggage. Lest the subject matter begin to sound too heavy, Tynan easily breaks up Charlie's serious soul-searching with witty moments of comic relief.

Together, with their mysterious stranger, Charlie and Annabelle survive the Serengeti wilderness through a zany adventure that contains everything from nail-biting suspense, to steamy romance and laugh-out-loud humor. Readers who finish "Charlie Ford Meets Secret Agent Man" and just can't get enough Charlie may look for the series' second installment--a "hotter" and more dangerous novel--in 2008.
