The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC) announced today that it has been named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Magazine, a national publication dedicated to illuminating the correlation between ethics and profit. "At PNC, our ethics and core values are the guiding principles by which we do business," said Tom Whitford, chief administrative officer at PNC. "We are pleased by this recognition by Ethisphere, but we recognize that strong corporate ethics require an ongoing effort by all employees."
PNC was one of 92 companies around the world selected for the list. Ethisphere magazine analyzed the companies over a six-month time period on a variety of factors, including companies' codes of ethics; litigation and regulatory infraction histories; investment in innovation and industry leadership; corporate citizenship, pan-industry effort participation; governance and transparency; public and trade partner perception analysis and ethics/compliance programs and systems.
"This was a rigorous process that identified a select group of companies that were unequaled in their industries for their commitment to ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility.
