Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 31, 2007 -- KnowWare International Inc. announces a free, online version of their Motivation Profile (available at http://www.debugyourmentalsoftware.com) that individuals can use to discover their strengths in communication and motivation. Based on research from the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), the Motivation Profile covers four cornerstones of personal strength:
1. How people communicate. Do people use more visual, auditory or kinesthetic?
2. What people value: people, places, activities, knowledge or things (i.e., relating, being, doing,
learning, or getting/having).
3. How people get motivated. There are five core motivation styles, each with two or more opposing points of view: achiever-problem solver, leader-follower, innovator-processor, thinker-doer, and traditionalist-evolutionary-revolutionary.
4. Where people focus their thoughts: past, present or future (i.e., historian, contemporary, futurist).
These four elements can vary from situation to situation; a person may not be the same at home as he or she is at work, for example. It can tell a person what jobs would be most enjoyable (e.g., activity junkies won't be happy behind a desk) and how frequently they'll be driven to change jobs, homes, spouses and locations. (The three common urges for change occur at two-year, seven-year and 25-year boundaries.)
Each of these motivation traits uses its own vocabulary, communication difficulties are a result of differences in styles. But anyone can learn to speak the other person's language and influence them. It also provides insights into writing marketing copy that speaks to a target market. The Discover Your Strengths movement started by Marcus Buckingham encourages people to leverage their strengths rather than fix their weaknesses. Strengths indicate a person's uniqueness and the marketplace will pay more for uniqueness than the absence of weaknesses. Buckingham identified 34 themes including activator, developer, strategic, etc. They can be found at http://gmj.gallup.com/book_center/strengthsfinder/default.aspx.
