It has not sunk in that I have climbed the highest mountain on earth!

On May 22nd at 7:10 a.m. Jeanne Stawiecki reached the summit of Mt. Everest. With this accomplishment, Jeanne summitted the highest peak and completed marathons on each of the seven continents. At age 56, she may be the oldest woman to reach the seven summits.

Jeanne and all of her fellow climbers, led by the mountain guides of Alpine Ascents International and their Sherpa - 21 climbers in all - were on the summit on May 22nd. All team members returned from the summit safely and in good health. Most of the team ended their expedition at Namche Bazaar for some rest, relaxation, and a celebration of their successful expedition.

Still coming to grips with the fact that she completed her long and arduous journey, Jeanne wrote from Namche, "It has not sunk in that I have climbed the highest mountain on earth!"

Jeanne headed home on May 28th and is expected home on June 3rd, 2007.
