New Human Rights Novel Takes Readers Inside Zambia During Height of the Guerrilla War for Zimbabwe's Independence

Based on actual events, End Slice by novelist Ernest Camden details the injustice and sorrow experienced by the nation of Zambia during Zimbabwe's guerrilla war.

Paphos, Cyprus (PRWEB) June 2, 2007 -- End Slice, the first published novel by Ernest Camden, is a human rights story about the guerrilla war for Zimbabwe's independence and how it affected the neighboring nation of Zambia. Having once been picked up, accused of being a spy, and detained at a guerrilla camp, Camden drew from his own experience living in Zambia to write this novel.

In End Slice, Camden uses ordinary people with different points of view to create an extraordinary story. Harry and Liz, an interracial couple consistently facing prejudice and conflict, are the book's main characters. In the background is Jesse, an African American reporter and idealist disillusioned by the excesses of America, who has been sent to Zambia to report events for his newspaper. Each character plays an important role in showing readers how individuals are treated in a one-party state, and as they begin to suffer the abuses of an unjust society, Camden's characters will struggle to find happiness.

Using guerrilla warfare as a backdrop, Camden tackles grim issues, such as corruption, racial attitudes and prejudices, and governmental abuse of authority. Giving readers a clear understanding of the motives of those in power, Camden describes one-party political oppression and its effects on the everyday life of the individual. Daunting and real, End Slice demonstrates what it's like to fight the system alone.
