Summer Blockbusters Sizzle Church Sermons
WingClips.com provides sermon illustrations from some of this season's biggest movies.
(PRWEB) June 1, 2007 -- Although the 2007 summer movie line-up could appear a bit repetitious due to the plethora of sequels and "three"quels releasing, here's something fresh and new: this year you might see scenes from these films in your local church. That's right, Church.
Capitalizing on the rising trend of multi-media capabilities in churches, clips from films such as Spider-man 3, Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Surf's Up are currently available for use as sermon illustrations. Now, pastors have a cinematic way to liven up their message.
Though you might wonder how applicable some of these films are as part of your Sunday service, WingClips President Mitchell Irion says, "The latest Hollywood films are always among our top downloads and tend to outperform older or lesser-known titles. Clips from the latest Pirates of the Caribbean will fit well with a teaching on salvation, leadership, suffering, foolishness, etc., whereas clips from Shrek the Third will correlate with themes such as free will, lying, ambition, or purpose."
More and more church leaders are looking for culturally relevant methods to engage their audience. And, movies are becoming recognized as our modern-day parables, since they illustrate an idea or emotion that connects with the viewer. While not every clip from the latest film will inspire an audience by itself, the approach in which a pastor incorporates it into his message can leave a lasting impression that words alone cannot deliver.
"Although these blockbuster movies are a great addition to our site," says Irion, "we are just as proud of some our lesser known films because often times they have more meaningful clips."
As this is only the beginning of the summer movie season and films like Evan Almighty, Ratatouille, Transformers, and many more on the way, Sunday mornings could become the most entertaining part of your week.
