Reunion-Synopsis
Dominique (Carolyn Owens), a cold-hearted professor suffering from kidney failure, attends the Smith and Wesson family reunion to approach estranged sister, CeCe (Trisha Mann), for a transplant. However, deep seeded wounds from catastrophic childhood events remain unresolved between the two sisters.
At great emotional expense, CeCe confronts past demons to find forgiveness and healing. Struggling with vulnerability, Dominique must do some soul searching to address personal shortcomings in order to save her own life.
Another storyline involves Dominique's brother, Richard (Dickie Wrightsil), and his daughters, Kayla (Dominiqua Lint) and Elsa (Micah Marie). Richard abandoned Kayla when she was an infant. Kayla regards Elsa as a scapegoat for her resentment towards her father. Kayla's unbridled aggressions explode at the family picnic before she learns that her mom, Richard's vindictive ex-wife (Tammarrah Walker), had lied about her father.
Wacky relatives (Jimmy Walker Jr & Helen Henson) attending the reunion in Hot Springs, Arkansas add color and controversy to the affair. As family members uncover buried truths and love, family politics nevertheless persist with the Smiths vying to maintain dominance and shut out the Wesson faction. Mounting tensions erupt when Aunt Clara (Maxine Hayden), family matriarch, reveals a shocking secret, shaking the family tree to its roots.
