Durham, NC (PRWEB) June 7, 2007
Broadwick Corp. is pleased to announce that its email marketing and blogging application IntelliContact is now iContact as of June. Broadwick will do business as iContact going forward.
According to Co-Founders Ryan Allis and Aaron Houghton, name is being shortened to make it easier to say and remember, and reflect the growth of the company. Over the past four years, iContact has grown from a small two-person entrepreneurial start-up to a company with 57 employees and over 11,000 customers.
In an open letter to all iContact customers and partners, Allis, CEO of Broadwick commented, "Today, we are starting to become an offline brand and want a name that can scale to the offline world of radio, billboards, and television. We wanted a name that would be easier to remember, easier to say, and easier to spell. iContact was already within the name IntelliContact and many of our fans, customers, employees, and investors already referred to us as iContact, so it naturally came up as an option when we sought something easier."
Aaron Houghton, Chief Innovation Officer, commented: "Also important to our decision was the fact that "Eye Contact" in its physical form is the basis of effective human communication and with "iContact" we want to be the basis of effective online human communication."
The corporate name - Broadwick Corp - will stay the same although the company will do business as and be known as just iContact going forward. The same great team behind IntelliContact will be behind iContact.
"iContact has evolved as a product," said Allis. "We started with just email marketing. Then we added surveys and autoresponders in 2004, then RSS feeds in 2006, then blogging in 2007. Our email marketing tool has turned into an online communication platform. And this is our focus starting today. We are creating a single web-based application that allows businesses to manage all of their online communications in one place while still being a rockstar email marketing app as well!"
Instead of the old slogan "We Simplify Email Marketing" the slogan for iContact is "We Simplify Communication." "This statement encapsulates what we are truly trying to accomplish in the next four years," Houghton noted.
"We have included the customers in the process," Allis said. "We believe in being a transparent company and appreciate the tremendous input they have provided." The complete open letter and customer comments on the change can be found at http://www.icontact.com/blog
