B-Dry Basement Waterproofing Prepares For Busy Hurricane Season

With the government predicting a very busy hurricane season, B-Dry and other basement waterproofing companies prepare for increased waterproofing and foundation repair demands.

Morristown, NJ (PRWEB) June 7, 2007 -- With the government predicting a very busy hurricane season, B-Dry and other basement waterproofing companies prepare for increased waterproofing and foundation repair demands.

"With 11 named storms and 6 actual hurricanes predicted, B-Dry basement waterproofing licensees are gearing up for lots of basement flooding and foundation repair work", said Robert Clarke of the B-Dry Owners Association. Three to five of those predicted storms are expected to be especially intense.

According to reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Washington D.C. there could be a flurry of storms between June 1 and Nov. 30. Looking back at the previous hurricane season in 2006, NOAA expected between 13 and 16 named storms, with 8 to 10 hurricanes. Some 4 to 6 were expected to be major storms. NOAA's expected forecast for this year will be quite similar to its prediction for 2006, if not more intense.
El Niño, which causes a warming current, is not expected to be a deterring factor this year to limit storms from forming.

"For wet basement repair companies", said Clarke, "a busy hurricane season calls for stockpiling of sump pumps, basement waterproofing products and other materials needed for foundation repair. Roofers, siding companies and insurance companies are also expected to see a surge in business from hurricane damage".
National Hurricane Center, noted that seasonal outlooks can be way off. For instance, last year, NOAA's forecast team over-guessed the number of storm systems. They didn't foresee El Niño's impact, which resulted in a less than average season: ten storms, including 5 hurricanes, with 2 of those severe.

While the company hopes that the hurricane season is not as damaging as predicting, B-Dry is taking steps to ensure they are prepared for whatever situation arises this hurricane season. As with many other events, preventing damage is much less costly and is easier than repairs after a basement flood, so B-Dry foundation waterproofing licensees urge homeowners to invest in properly working basement drainage systems. This simple preventative measure taken before hurricane season begins could help homeowners to avoid expensive and intrusive home repairs.
