Safety On Site Training, with offices in Phoenix and Maricopa, Arizona announced today that it is now a recognized distributor of Zoll Automated External Defibrillators.

While it is certainly a step in the right direction for SOST, it's not a step on a new path by any means, as the company has been selling and training on Zoll AEDs for the past four years.

Zoll is an industry leader in AEDs, with the highest Ingress Protection (IP) Rating of any other machine of its kind. The Zoll AED Plus boasts a well-designed formula for success in saving victims of sudden cardiac arrest, that begins with what the company calls the Chain of Survival.

The first link is Early Access, followed by Early CPR, Early Defibrillation and Early Advanced Care. By focusing on the full Chain of Survival and supporting effective CPR, the Zoll AED is the first and only Full-Rescue AED. Studies have shown that without AEDs only 5% of sudden cardiac arrest victims are saved, but with AEDs an impressive 65%-75% are surviving.

The unit offers instantaneous CPR feedback and allows the rescuer to know if CPR compressions are adequate in both timing and depth. A programmed voice instruction allows the rescuer to not take their eyes off the patient and still know if they are implementing the proper techniques in the proper order. The device monitors heart rhythms and will allow electrical shock only if needed and even comes available with pediatric pads that communicate with the machine to completely change the heart rhythm analysis and defibrillation energy levels. This makes the Zoll AED a trusted product for public access defibrillation programs in virtually any location where the general public can be found.

In addition to the obvious medical advantages with its ease of use, there are also structural benefits such as a one-piece electrode that assures fast and accurate placement, power supply from a array of ten lithium batteries that can be purchased at any retail store selling cameras, and a rugged, durable design that can withstand dropping, dust and moisture. The IP55 rating is better than any other competitor offers.

As the Chair for the Central Arizona Task Force for the American Heart Association and owner of Safety On Site Training, Michelle Allcott-Mills couldn't be happier with Zoll's decision to make Safety On Site training one of its distributors, because she so wholeheartedly believes in the Zoll product. With a background in emergency response industry that dates back to 1988, she has a firm grasp on the importance of response time during a cardiac arrest incident and knows Zoll AEDs certainly simplify the process for the rescuer, as well as average citizens, which equates to precious time. The reliability of the equipment is also a driving force in her preference to the Zoll unit.
