Barcelona, Spain (PRWEB) June 18, 2007 -- Peter OBlenis, Vice President Product Marketing for TrialStat, will address participants at the fourth annual Health Technology Assessment International (HTAI) Meeting in Barcelona, Spain on June 19. Mr. OBlenis topic is called "Online Community-Run Coded Reference Database Project." His presentation will examine how a new, web-enabled research ecosystem that is being built will allow organizations conducting systematic reviews to easily share their reference lists and coded data, so that it can be re-used by other researchers.
Launched on May 10, 2007, ESRNexus is a comprehensive and free searchable database of coded references that facilitates and promotes the reuse of data that has been manually extracted from periodicals during the conduct of systematic reviews. The search engine currently contains nearly 16 million abstracts from sources that include the National Library of Medicine, Stanford University, McMaster University and the University of Central Florida.
Systematic reviews are used to identify, critically appraise and synthesize research from existing research. Increasingly, systematic reviews are the cornerstone for evidence-based research and are used to inform clinical practice and policy and to guide future clinical research.
