Genuitec's hiring of Tim Webb will ensure that the most qualified technologist will lead the open source "Maya" project, as well as provide Genuitec with a world-class expert to spearhead Genuitec's commercial provisioning solution.

Genuitec, LLC, provider of the popular MyEclipse integrated development environment (IDE) and a founding member of the Eclipse Foundation, announced today the hiring of respected industry technologist Tim Webb. Recently appointed as the lead for the open source "Maya" project at the Eclipse Foundation, Webb will also coordinate the development of Genuitec's commercial software provisioning solution.

"We're excited about the expertise Tim Webb is bringing to Genuitec," said Genuitec CEO Maher Masri. "His experience in the provisioning field is unmatched, and will provide Genuitec with a unique resource as we continue to provide necessary services to our enterprise customers."

Webb lead the internal project team that created the software provisioning tools being donated to the Eclipse Foundation by Cisco, a company with a long history of supporting and contributing to open source initiatives. Cisco and Webb realized that many enterprises could take advantage of their internally-developed technologies, and recently donated the "Maya" code base to the Eclipse Foundation to encourage broader adoption and innovation.

"Placing Tim Webb as the point man for the Maya project demonstrates that Cisco is committed to encouraging open-source collaboration," said Todd Williams, vice president of technology at Genuitec. "We're excited as a company to participate in broadening the "Maya" technology base with Tim at the helm, as well as collectively looking forward to him leading development of an advanced commercial solution for Genuitec's enterprise customers."

Genuitec's hiring of Webb will ensure that the most qualified technologist will lead the open source "Maya" project, as well as provide Genuitec with a world-class expert to spearhead Genuitec's commercial provisioning solution.

Webb will officially join Genuitec in late June, with Genuitec's first commercial-grade implementation of the Maya-based software provisioning tools scheduled for delivery in late 2007.

About the Maya Project
Cisco Systems, like many companies, has faced the challenge of marshaling their development tools and distribution models within the enterprise. Cisco's internally-developed software provisioning solution is addressing this common problem by providing centralized control of development tooling and distribution, while retaining maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness in the maintenance of sanctioned environments. Recognizing other companies' need for such a solution, Cisco chose to release the code base to the Eclipse Foundation as the "Maya" project in mid-2007.
