The Ogdensburg Public Library Proves That They Are More Then Just Books By Offering A Free Rock And Roll Concert

The Ogdensburg Public Library invites all patrons to help write a song with The High Strung, the band that Rolling Stone magazine calls "one of the best new, young, rock & roll bands in America," on Monday, June 25 at 6:30 in the library park gazebo.

Ogdensburg, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2007 -- The Ogdensburg Public Library invites all library patrons to help write and improvise a song with the band that Rolling Stone magazine calls "one of the best new, young, rock & roll bands in America," on Monday, June 25 at 6:30 in the library park gazebo.

Hailing from Detroit, The High Strung, Josh Malerman (vocals), Derek Berk (drums) and Chad Stocker (bass), will electrify library concertgoers with their sunny three-part harmonies, quirky carefree sound, and witty, lyrical bravado that describes characters more likely found in the pages of children's books instead of in a traditional rock and roll song.

In addition to recording the concert live and giving a copy to the library, The High Strung will explain to patrons what it's like to tour year-round, what sort of enthusiasm it takes to maintain faith in your art, and ask the audience to collaborate in writing a song with the band.

The High Strung are currently on their second National Rock and Roll Library Tour and have received rave reviews from NPR, Entertainment Weekly, Spin, Rolling Stone, and Stuff Magazine. The band's music video can also be seen on MTV.

This free concert is made possible, in part, by public funds through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, administered in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties by the North Country Library System.

In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the library auditorium. The Ogdensburg Public Library is more then just a library; it is a place where anything can happen.

Please contact Bonnie Wright at the Ogdensburg Public Library for a complete list of the various events and activities being held throughout the summer.
