Riverside, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2007

Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management announced today it will receive a grant from Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM). Springboard plans to use the grant to assist low and moderate income consumers with the fees associated with credit counseling and education requirements under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA).

The donation from Chase will help offset the costs associated with providing credit counseling and the required personal financial management instructional course mandated by BAPCPA to low and moderate-income consumers. Springboard provides these services at a reduced cost or waives the fee for consumers with demonstrated financial hardships who lack the ability to pay.

"We're thrilled to partner with Chase to bring these important financial literacy programs to our community," said Springboard president and dhief executive officer, Todd Emerson. "Chase's contribution will help make a real difference in promoting financial responsibility."

Chase's Financial Literacy Grant Program is in its second year. Chase provided $1.3 million in funding in 2006, which is followed by $1.3 million in funding this year and an additional $1.3 million in 2008. The new nationwide program is part of Chase's multi-million dollar commitment to supporting financial literacy for people of all ages.

"Chase has a long-standing commitment to help consumers with financial planning and education," said Jeff Courtney, senior vice president, Customer Support Division, Chase Card Services.
