With the recent closure of the Halo 3 beta -- and more than four months to go until the official release of the game -- fans are flocking to online communities such as Halopedia to chronicle the details of the beta, which only a select few were able to access. Halopedia is a comprehensive, user-created resource that offers visitors more than 2,400 articles on the Halo universe including all of the Halo games, the Halo series of books and even has details on the Halo Movie. The newest portion of the site is devoted to Halo 3 and includes detailed information on the game's new features, plot lines and screen shots from the new multiplayer levels of the Halo 3 beta.

Driven by his love for science fiction and technology, 13 year-old Kyle Loh, who also goes by the alias "RelentlessRecusant", began playing Halo in 2003. After mastering the game, Loh began writing articles on Halopedia and eventually became one of the site's most active contributors and editors. Today, Loh is a fulltime Junior-level student at Rutgers University studying neurobiology, but still finds time to contribute regularly to Halopedia. Recently Loh was appointed as one of Halopedia's site administrators and also acts as the Editor-in-Chief of the site's weekly newsletter.

"Halopedia is great because it gives players the chance to form online communities outside of game play," said Loh. "The people I play Halo with online are the same people I am meeting and collaborating with on the Halopedia site -- I really enjoy the social aspect of Halopedia."

Halopedia is a unique resource as it is built and continually maintained by the gamers themselves, many of whom are similar to Loh -- dedicated volunteers who contribute to the site in their spare time. Today, Halopedia is regarded as an accurate and valuable resource among gamers. In the future, the site strives to continue to provide its visitors with the same high-quality and reliable content about the highly anticipated Halo 3.
