Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 24, 2007 -- Burst announced today it was awarded a contract to rebuild the studio control rooms and digital infrastructure of KTOO-TV, a PBS station in Juneau, AK. KTOO broadcasts Gavel to Gavel Alaska, a statewide cable service similar to C-Span that provides live and taped coverage of the Alaska Legislature, the Administration and the Alaska Supreme Court.
In fall of 2007, KTOO will launch a year round 24-hour service called 360 North, which incorporates Gavel to Gavel Alaska programming as well as other programs about and for Alaskans. The digital conversion is essential to this new service.
Burst will manage the engineering design, equipment procurement and installation required to convert KTOO's control rooms from analog to digital and make improvements to workflow and production capabilities. The new facility, funded by a one million dollar grant, will allow KTOO to improve production capabilities with a new design of their primary control room for Gavel to Gavel and improvements to the studio production control room.
The project calls for expansion of a digital router, new digital switchers, improved graphic capabilities and digital conversion equipment. The design allows for a new digital equipment area away from the current rack room and will require construction of a new floor plan for the ECR control room. Work will commence in June with an anticipated completion date in late fall.
Throughout the project, Burst will work closely with the KTOO staff to address unique workflow issues relating to the production of Gavel to Gavel.
