Global Institute of Logistics Partners with ChiLab to Develop Relationship Orientation Training and Educational Resources
The Global Institute of Logistics is pleased to announce a partnership with Hong Kong based ChiLab to develop industry standards in relationship orientation together with a training program and educational resources leading to certification
(PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- The Global Institute of Logistics is pleased to announce a partnership with Hong Kong based ChiLab to develop industry standards in relationship orientation together with a training program and educational resources leading to certification
This development between the Global Institute of Logistics and ChiLab is crucial in the push towards a more collaborative model throughout the industry. It is expected that the first intakes for the Certificate Program will occur in Hong Kong and Singapore through August-September 2007.
The promotion of Relationship Orientation in the global supply chain is one of the main aims of the Institute. Relationship Orientation is the means by which the industry can develop integration and visibility across the supply chain and as a result increase time-savings and further squeeze-out costs in the pursuit of efficiency. The Institute believes that the higher the level of Relationship Orientation achieved between the stakeholders in the global supply chain, the greater the operational logistics service quality improvements that will be enjoyed and as a consequence of this advance, better economic performance for all.
This announcement was the result of an initiative started some time back and is the culmination of significant input from a number of credible sources.
Speaking at the announcement of the partnership Mr Kieran Ring, CEO of the Global Institute of Logistics said:
"Developing Standards is an important part of the work of the institute in supporting the industry. Working with Germanisher Llloyd, who have already developed the Cool Chain Standard, we announced our latest initiative in Dusseldorf - a process for defining and benchmarking Port Standards.
"Meanwhile, when we first met Mr Stinson and heard about the work his company was doing, the synergy was obvious. For some time ChiLab has been working on what they term Right Mind skills and the elements of their program tie in almost exactly with the skill set identified by various academic papers as the keys to Relationship Orientation.
"The ChiLab team has worked with advisers to modify their program to a perfect fit for logistics industry needs and to develop Industry Standards with the assistance of their academics and industry experts. Both tasks have now been completed. This means that those who proceed through the certification program will have to achieve benchmark performance in the entire range of Relationship Orientation skills before being awarded the certificate.
"Along the way participants will improve their performance in a range of areas which will lead to better logistics results as identified in the various papers written by Sin et al and Panayides and So.
"The Institute and ChiLab will continue to develop further educational opportunities for logistics industry operators. Outstanding performers in the certificate program will be offered the opportunity to move on to diploma status and beyond.
"I see the collaboration between Chilab and the Institute as an exciting partnership forming a pathway to global standards of service and competitive advantage for those organizations within the industry who embrace the paradigm."
Commenting on the announcement Mr Bruce Stinson, Managing Director of ChiLab Limited said:
"With the support of an exceptional Advisory Board, we have made considerable progress in both developing the Standards and preparing a comprehensive three-month program which will lead to a validated final assessment. Success in that assessment will see the participant awarded the Global Institute of Logistics Relationship Orientation Certificate.
"I share the opinion, held by the industry leaders with whom we have worked so closely, that the certificate will come to be viewed as a very important qualification within the industry. It will acknowledge that the holder has a high skill level in a variety of important areas which will foster good relationships with both customers and other supply chain members.
"This is the first step in making available a range of resources that will see the industry's push for better Relationship Orientation move from the realm of theory to practice.
"We expect the Certificate Program to be available in other major centers such as the United States and Europe by October. A full run down of dates and venues will be available on the Global Institute of Logistics and ChiLab websites very soon."
