Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- In response to recent widespread concerns regarding potential health problems linked to AMO, Inc.'s Complete Moisture Plus contact lens solution, Williams Kherkher of Houston, Texas has launched a Web site, whose URL can be found at http://www.contact-solution-recall.com. This Web site was built for the purpose of providing visitors who have used, are using or could potentially use this product. Williams Kherkher is led by Attorneys John Eddie Williams and Steve Kherkerk, and has 26 attorneys and over 120 support staff and has worked in the area of mass tort litigation since 1983.
Complete Moisture Plus is manufactured by Advanced Medical Optics Inc. (AMO), based in Santa Ana, California. The product has been on the market for several years, recently initiated a recall of the product because of its alleged connection to the presence of an elevated risk to eye infections and other serious side effects.
The news comes on the heels of the publication of several studies that were handled by the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Illinois Department of Public Health and ultimately the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a federal entity. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also announced the voluntary recall on its Web site recently, and published the product codes and lot numbers affected.
Besides the increased risk for eye infections, Complete Moisture Plus has also shown a high degree of risk for the development of Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK), a serious eye condition. AK is known to lead to permanent vision loss. Specifically, the reason alleged for this statistical link is the presence of a parasite in some of the lots of the solution that houses itself in the solution before it's packaged and distributed to markets all over the world. Although this recall was voluntary, additional scrutiny fixed towards AMO, Inc. is expected.
