IT360 Conference & Expo 2007: Where the IT Industry Converged

The Canadian IT industry converged between April 30 and May 2, 2007 in Toronto for the inaugural year of the most comprehensive business technology event, IT360 Conference & Expo. In the climate of ever-accelerating change, business and technology professionals congregated at IT360 to ensure they are ahead of the technology curve. Attendees experienced a 360° circle of information through the multi-sectored forum which focused on the Network, Linux/Open Source, Security and Storage.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 28, 2007 -- The Canadian IT industry converged between April 30 and May 2, 2007 in Toronto for the inaugural year of the most comprehensive business technology event, IT360 Conference & Expo. In the climate of ever-accelerating change, business and technology professionals congregated at IT360 to ensure they are ahead of the technology curve. Attendees experienced a 360° circle of information through the multi-sectored forum which focused on the Network, Linux/Open Source, Security and Storage.

The trade show was a highly charged hands-on environment that featured high profile experts from leading vendor companies providing timely facts, future developments and live demonstrations.

The energy and enthusiasm were palpable--everyone was there to learn the newest strategies and techniques, and the show delivered. I was particularly excited by the Asterisk Telephony Conference, which provided an immensely practical, hands-on look at migrating to and using Asterisk.
"The core of Symantec's business is protecting information, interactions and infrastructures," said Jennifer Bell, senior manager, Enterprise Marketing, Symantec (Canada) Corporation. "To do this effectively, we need to engage with businesses and consumers on an ongoing basis. IT360 offered Symantec an opportunity to connect with those individuals responsible for shaping the way technology, people and businesses converge and to share our expertise on the constantly evolving online world."

"On behalf of testworX Inc. I would like to take this opportunity to express my great satisfaction in our recent participation in the IT360 tradeshow. The overwhelming traction at our booth and qualified interest surpassed all expectations. I found the show very well organized and am looking forward to exhibiting again next year," said Cathy Pilon, V.P., testworX Inc.

"The crowd's diversity allowed us to network with company decision makers in order to bring value back to their organizations," said Wafaa Habash, Assistant Sales Analyst (BSD), Sharp Electronics of Canada.

The Smalltalk Solutions Conference was hosted for a second consecutive year at IT360 and is the premier forum for bringing together Smalltalk users, developers and enthusiasts. "Smalltalk Solutions 2007 in association with IT360 proved to be another successful event. The Smalltalk Solutions sessions were standing room only in some cases and the interest for dynamic languages such as Smalltalk, Ruby and Seaside continues to grow, "said Suzanne Fortman, Cincom Smalltalk Program Director and STIC Marketing Chairperson. "The 3rd Annual Smalltalk Coding Contest attracted a large audience witnessing the three finalists compete for top honors in the Smalltalk Community."

The first Canadian Asterisk and Open Telephony Conference was introduced and also hosted at IT360. Asterisk is an open source telephony solution that enables users to have a more economical voice-over-IP solution within an organization. Kevin P. Fleming, director of software development at Digium®, Inc., and co-maintainer of Asterisk®, delivered a keynote at the recent IT360 conference. "I'm very pleased with the caliber of the attendees at the conference," said Fleming. "The energy and enthusiasm were palpable--everyone was there to learn the newest strategies and techniques, and the show delivered. I was particularly excited by the Asterisk Telephony Conference, which provided an immensely practical, hands-on look at migrating to and using Asterisk."

Attendees had the ability to create a customized curriculum by selecting sessions from all three of these conferences, truly allowing for an all encompassing IT experience.

The buzz surrounding ITIL, Governance and Service Management was evident as the 2-day course offered at IT360 was sold out weeks before the event. New versions of technology and new license requirements are forcing organizations in all industry sectors to look at information technology as a cost-effective solution. ITIL (the Information Technology Infrastructure Library) is a series of documents and processes which contribute to an IT organization's management and accountability.

"The interest in ITIL and Microsoft Vista was overwhelming. So much so that our training and information sessions were at capacity." said Howard Litman, National Business Development Manager, Nexient Learning Inc. "Nexient is the national leader in skills development. Our silver sponsorship of the IT360 event was a reflection of our commitment to the Canadian IT market. It allowed us to clearly demonstrate our ability to develop employee skills that enable business to maintain their competitive edge."

The course program and certification exam, conducted by Nexient Learning and Quint Wellington Redwood, uses both practical and theoretical methods to ensure participants understand ITIL's main processes, learn best practices, and become familiar with ITIL's comprehensive glossary.

Visitors were captivated by the event's keynote speakers: Don Tapscott, Chief Executive, New Paradigm; Vito Marbrucco, Managing Director, IDC Canada; John Magee, VP Enterprise Product & Services Marketing, Symantec; and John Reid, President, CATAAlliance. Each presentation provided a different vision of where information technology is headed and how many methods of communications are fast evolving.

Bruce Cole, General Manager, ITWorld Expo Canada, foresees the evolution of IT to continue at an accelerated pace. "IT360 brings this year's key IT industry sectors into one multi-disciplined event, exposing attendees to the full scope of IT mixed-environments. Information technology solutions are a moving target and the success of IT360 reflects the increased need for such a forum in Canada."
