Rocky Bunnell Named New Hampshire's Logger of the Year 2007

Rocky Bunnell, a Monroe, NH, resident, received this award based on his responsibility running a business, working toward community goals, proper land management and educational opportunities.

Monroe, NH (PRWEB) June 29, 2007 -- Rocky Bunnell, a Monroe, NH, resident, received this award based on his responsibility running a business, working toward community goals, proper land management and educational opportunities.

Bunnell owns Bunnell Logging and Forest Management. He is a man that is not comfortable talking about himself, but when you talk about his profession, the growing global market, and the rise in environmental awareness and alternative energy, his enthusiasm builds. "I just like to see good work done and I'm kind of big on good habitat ... I like to see the forest amount to something."

Bunnell is proud to be named Logger of the year, but is quick to recognize his crew, Fred Derosia, Orin Sargent, Jon Abbey, Russell Brown, and most of all, his wife Gail. "I am extremely proud of him, and I just think it's nice that people in the industry you work with acknowledge you," says Gail.

Sean Sullivan, the communications director for the New Hampshire Timberland Owner's Association, nominated Bunnell for the award. Sullivan was impressed by Bunnell's dedication to the logging industry. Bunnell shows his dedication not just in his professional life, but also in his personal life.

Logging has come a long way, Sulllivan said, from the days of the early 1900s when loggers would just cut down trees with little thought to the science of it all. Now, so much thought is put into it that the loggers of today have become ecology-minded businessmen with an understanding of the profound economic impact of poor forest management.

And those that do it right deserve rewards. "If they're doing damage today, there is no work tomorrow," Sullivan said.

The Timberland Owner's Association has been around since 1911, and the Logger of the Year Award has been around for almost 30 years. The Timberland Owner's Association is a non profit state-wide coalition of landowners, forestry professionals and government officials, working to better forest management, conserve the working forests and insure a strong forest products industry.
