Are You and Your Friends Mensa Smart?

Mensa encourages friends to test together.

Arlington, TX (Vocus/PRWEB ) July 2, 2007 -- Have you ever been called a smarty-pants, egghead, or smart cookie? If so, American Mensa invites you to grab a favorite friend and a #2 pencil and see if you're "Mensa smart."

American Mensa announces that July is "Bring-a-Friend" testing month. Between July 1 and July 31 many Mensa chapters around the country will welcome people of all professions, backgrounds and interests to gather at a local testing facility where the Mensa Admission Test will be administered. Bring a friend during this event to take advantage of two-for-one testing.

Anyone who scores in the top two percent on the Mensa Admission Test will be invited to join the organization. That means that if the entire population of United States tested during the month of July, statistically, more than six million people (or one in fifty) would qualify for a Mensa membership. This test is open to anyone age 14 and older and parental permission is required for anyone age 14-17. Mensa also offers a battery of culture-fair, non-language tests. The testing fee for the Mensa Admission Test and Culture-Fair test battery is $40 each.

People of all ages have often already taken a test that qualifies them for membership in Mensa. More than 200 standardized intelligence tests are accepted for membership. These tests include the LSAT*, Stanford-Binet, GRE* and GMAT. A partial list of accepted tests and scores may be found at www.us.mensa.org/testscores.

American Mensa is an organization open to anyone who scores in the top two percent on an accepted, standardized intelligence test. The organization has more than 54,000 members in the United States and more than 110,000 members worldwide. Members of Mensa attend local and national events, join special interest groups such as astronomy and philosophy, and help out in their communities through various projects. For more information about Mensa, or to apply for membership, visit www.us.mensa.org or call (800) 66-MENSA.

*Some tests are accepted only within specific date ranges.
