'STEPS' School Makeover Challenge Aided by Peter Cox Ltd

Damp proofing specialists Peter Cox Ltd joined other Midlands companies to help STEPS, a Leicestershire based conductive education charity, renovate their premises at St Botolph's Old School in Shepshed.

(PRWEB) July 4, 2007 -- The Derby branch of damp proofing specialists Peter Cox Ltd ( www.petercox.com ) has joined other Midlands companies to help STEPS, a Leicestershire based conductive education charity, renovate their premises at St Botolph's Old School in Shepshed.

The STEPS charity helps families who have children with cerebral palsy and similar motor dysfunctions.

In 2006 it was in danger of closing down but with the support of patron Rosemary Conley and through a variety of fundraising initiatives the school was saved, the building was purchased and has now been the centre of a much needed makeover.

Peter Cox has installed a damp proof course while designers, builders, plumbers, electricians and many other specialists have lent their support in a "Challenge Anneka" Style makeover, renovating the existing dilapidated old hall and building an extension to create a theatre / function room which can be hired out to generate revenue to fund the charity.

Peter Cox is the country's leading damp proofing and timber preservation specialist with 14 branch offices across England, Wales and Scotland. Founded in 1951 the company was an early pioneer in damp proof course technology and today uses a silane/silicone cream which is injected into the wall to eradicate rising damp.

The company also provides solutions to woodworm infestation, dry rot and cavity wall tie corrosion. The company has repaired many thousands of private houses and most of its work is supported by long term guarantees.

The makeover was supported by ITV Central who filmed the transformation - to see a clip go to:

STEPS patron Rosemary Conley said "I am overwhelmed by the interest and support we received from the trades' people. Everyone has been so generous! Thank you to everyone involved for making this happen."

NOTES TO EDITORS

STEPS - www.stepscentre.org
STEPS was initiated in 1995 by four Loughborough families who had children with cerebral palsy or associated motor dysfunctions. They had experienced the benefits that conductive education brought to their children and wanted other Leicestershire families in a similar position to have the same benefits without the disruption that trips to the Petö Institute in Hungary cause to family life.
