International 450 Association Announces ITU-R Study Group 8 Approved Report

IA450 is pleased to announce that ITU-R Study Group 8 approved a Report on Sharing Studies related to the 450-470 MHz Band. The Study Group 8 approved a Draft New Report (DNR) on sharing studies between Radiocommunication services and IMT systems operating in the 450-470 MHz.

Whippany, NJ (PRWEB) July 5, 2007 -- The ITU-R Study Group 8 approved Report is suitable for assessing the feasibility of sharing between IMT systems operating in the 450-470 MHz band and Radiocommunication services having a primary allocation in the 450-470MHz band and the adjacent 420-450 MHz and 470-480 MHz bands.

The Report on 450-470 MHz sharing is an important step in obtaining the identification of the 450-470 MHz band as an IMT band in the upcoming World Radio Conference (WRC-07). The Report was a joint effort by four IA450 members - Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei Technologies, Nortel Networks, and Qualcomm to ITU-R Working Party 8F -, led under the leadership of Safwan Zaheer, Chairman of IA450´s Standards and Regulatory Working Group and the ITU-R WP-8F 450 Sharing group.

CDMA450 continues to be a key technology in providing voice and high-speed data to rural and underserved areas, enabling governments to meet their Universal Service Obligation goals. The identification of 450-470MHz band as an IMT will inevitably lead to greater deployment of the technology creating an ecosystem of enhanced products and services that will benefit consumers
