The Web's Alternative to the Discovery Channel

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 7, 2007 -- The Daily Galaxy announced today that Val Landi, an original seed investor, has joined the company as CEO. Landi was former Executive Vice President of the global technology-publisher IDG, later joining Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's Interval Research. Landi was also a member of the pre-IPO executive team at LookSmart, an early Yahoo and Google competitor, and was founder and CEO of Redband Broadcasting, a Sony venture.

The Daily Galaxy - News from Planet Earth & Beyond - is described as an eclectic text and video presentation of fascinating, often irreverent, news and insights on science, space exploration, technology, and popular culture.

"Readers of The Daily Galaxy, are brand influencers: iPod, iTunes and iPhone users; Stumblers, Twitters, Facebook networkers; Daily Show and Colbert Report viewers. They are affluent, educated, involved, with an approximate 50/50 gender split," said Landi.

"We are your eye on the universe for out-of-the-ordinary, exceptional content," Landi continued. "The Daily Galaxy, launched January '07, is growing at warp speed, attracting a smart, passionate audience that is hungry for news that defines our world and its concerns, reaching above and beyond a hardcore geek audience. Our readers embrace issues and events that define our daily lives on Planet Earth."
