Gadgets to Beat the Summer Heat

With the current heat wave across the US, millions are searching for ways to beat the oppressive summer heat. At home, work and outdoors...the quest for comfort has become a distraction. Staying cool can be consuming. Fortunately, there is some relief in the form of helpful gadgets designed to bring cooling comfort from the heat and humidity.

(PRWEB) July 10, 2007 -- With record high temperatures across the United States, many are struggling to find effective and inexpensive ways of keeping cool. The stifling heat has made everyday activities and the quest for summer fun much more difficult. High temperatures and humidity conspire to drain our energy, disrupt our comfort and distract from the season of leisure. This is especially true for Baby Boomers and Active Seniors.

Fortunately, retailers have taken notice and started offering product lines which address the need to be cool. One retailer, which has prided itself on "being cool" to Baby Boomers for years (as a leading gadget and electronics retailer), is now focused on helping Baby Boomers and Seniors "stay cool". This approach couldn't have come at a better time for its sweltering customers.

FirstStreet (http://www.FirstStreetOnline.com), a Top 400 e-Retailer and catalog company, has created a "Cooling Gadgets" category to address the needs of its customers as the temperatures continue to rise. The company, known for bringing unique, practical gadgets to Baby Boomers and beyond, offers products that help consumers keep cool at home, at the office and outdoors. It's assortment of innovative products are sure to bring comfort during the "dog days of summer". According to Daniel Yonts, firstSTREET's Director of Internet Marketing, this category is a continuation of firstSTREET's ongoing strategy to "bring innovative solutions to real-life problems. The heat is definitely a problem for many of our customers at work, in their home and while entertaining outdoors."

This theme is clarified by Chris Fawcett, firstSTREET's Vice President of Marketing and Catalog. "Staying comfortable is very important to our customers and, during the summer, staying cool becomes especially important. With rising energy costs, many are trying to save money by using their air conditioners less and they're looking to us to find alternate ways of keeping cool in the summer heat. Our merchandisers are always looking for the latest in unique and innovative ways to keep our customers comfortable."

Products featured in firstSTREET's category include portable cooling devices that can be taken to work or used at home, as well as cooling and misting systems for outdoors. Also featured are gadgets that help cars stay cool during the summer, pillows that keep customers cool at night and portable air conditioning. The overwhelming majority of products in its "Cooling Gadgets" category are affordably priced for those seeking some comfort in the hot days ahead.

So far, according to Yonts, "the personal cooling gadgets have been the most popular products in this category. People like having the ability to find some relief from the heat when visiting a theme park or doing other outdoor activities. Cubicle dwellers also like these products - since it appears many offices aren't always generous when it comes to turning up the AC."
